Dr. Mona Mofid is a medical dermatologist who specializes in evaluating and treating people with skin cancer, in particular melanoma.
A Fellow of the American Academy of Dermatology, Dr. Mona earned her medical degree from the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine, where she also completed her dermatology training and subsequently remained on as faculty before moving to San Diego. Dr. Mona has voluntarily served the community as the medical director of the American Melanoma Foundation for almost 20 years.
Dr. Mona has a long history of community service and philanthropy and recently co-sponsored an orphanage in Nigeria named the “Dr. Mona and Jim Reopelle Home of Kindness.” She has been an avid supporter of law enforcement and funded a therapy dog, “Walker,” for the San Diego Police Department.
Dr. Mona is widely considered one of the best dermatologists in San Diego and has been recognized with numerous professional and consumer honors, including consistently being chosen by patients within Sharp Community Medical Group (with over 1,600 physicians) as the Top Specialist. More than 100 guardian angel donations have been made in her honor by grateful patients to the Sharp HealthCare system.
Dr. Mona is also a seven-time San Diego Medical Society Top Doctor Award recipient.
