Bridge achieves 21st Century Cures Act (g)(10) FHIR API certification from the ONC for real-time health information exchange between providers, patients, and health plans.

DALLAS, TX, February 14, 2023 /24-7PressRelease/ — Bridge, a patient engagement platform company, is announcing it achieved 21st Century Cures Act (g)(10) FHIR API certification from the Office of the National Coordinator for Health Information Technology (ONC) on November 29th, 2022.

This new certification is recognized as the most stringent one to date under the 21st Century Cures Act and requires the use of Health Level 7 (HL7®) FHIR standards. The (g)(10) specifications advance interoperability and facilitate real-time health information exchange between providers, patients, and health plans, and empowers patients by mandating the right to access their health data. From Bridge’s patient engagement platform, data can be made available through the FHIR API allowing patients to view, exchange, and use their full electronic health information on a third-party app.

“The Cures Act mandate for healthcare providers and electronic health record (EHR) vendors to support the FHIR API standard is an important step towards improved interoperability and stopping information blocking, which is so prevalent among EHR vendors. Bridge’s Cures Act certification is just another example of Bridge’s continued commitment to compliance since Bridge received it’s ONC 2014 certification for Meaningful Use,” said John Deutsch, CEO of Bridge.

By earning (g)(10) certification, Bridge enables healthcare providers and EHR developers an easy path to compliance. Healthcare providers can implement a FHIR-compliant API within just two weeks, while channel partners and EHR vendors who white label Bridge can achieve compliance through Bridge’s platform, rather than certifying through their own development work.

Signed into law on December 13th, 2016, the 21st Century Cures Act is designed to increase choice and access for patients and providers with many provisions focused on advancing interoperability and banning developers from information blocking.
